The following is a clear and accurate explanation of your existing
insurance coverage available under Golden Bay Relocation, and other
options available to you.
Bay Relocation LLC is a fully licensed and insured moving company, licensed
by the Public Utility Commission (P.U.C.). The P.U.C. mandates that
all moving companies in the State of California provide, free of
charge to the customer, basic insurance. Basic insurance provides
limited coverage of your household goods. This covers your furniture
and belongings in the event of damage, at the rate of $.60
per pound per article.
P.U.C. requires two other insurance options to be provided to the customer, which would
be issued at an additional charge. These additional options provide
greater coverage towards your household goods in the event of damage.
The additional options are Actual Cash Value and Full Value.
Cash Value: This option provides for lost or damaged articles
based on actual cash value, including depreciation, at the time
of loss or damage, up to the total amount of value declared by the
Don't worry, when you speak with your prospective mover, they will
be able to fully explain this to you in simple terms.
Value: This option provides replacement of or reimbursement
for the lost or damaged article(s) based on current cost of replacement,
up to the total dollar amount of valuation declared by the customer.
if the contents inside a box are broken during the move?
By law, if the movers did not provide the packing services, and the
box was not dropped while being handled by the movers, and the box
showed no visible signs of damaged (severely crushed, smashed or
ripped), then the movers are not responsible for the damage. Otherwise,
the claim would fall under the insurance coverage selected by the
customer (basic coverage, actual cash value, or full value). Please
read our information regarding "Packing Your Home" before you leave
our web site.
if the movers damage the premises of the property?
That happens to fall under a different category of insurance
coverage, which is called General Liability. Golden Bay Relocation
has general liability coverage up to $1,000,000.
Golden Bay Relocation provide a Certificate of Insurance?
We do provide a certificate of insurance for a fee of $20. This request comes from either the management or H.O.A of your condo association. The certificate information must be submitted in writing to us, usually in the form of a PDF file, within 3-4 business days prior to move.
Regarding Electrical, Mechanical or Electronic Devices:
No liability shall be provided
for the mechanical or electrical derangements of pianos, radios, phonographs,
clocks, refrigerators, television sets, automatic washers/dryers, computers
or other instruments, electronics, electrical devices or appliances unless
evidence of external damage to such equipment is visible.
for all residential moves, please verify with your homeowner's or
renter's insurance provider if your policy provides for loss or
