The following is a clear and accurate explanation of your existing insurance coverage available under Golden Bay Relocation, and other options available to you.

Golden Bay Relocation is a fully licensed and insured moving company, licensed by the Public Utility Commission (P.U.C.). The P.U.C. mandates that all moving companies in the State of California provide, free of charge to the customer, basic insurance. Basic insurance provides limited coverage of your household goods. This covers your furniture and belongings in the event of damage, at the rate of $.60 per pound per article.

The P.U.C. also mandates that all moving companies in the State of California provide two other insurance options to the customer, which would be issued at an additional charge. These additional options provide greater coverage towards your household goods in the event of damage. The additional options are Actual Cash Value and Full Value.

Actual Cash Value: This option provides for lost or damaged articles based on actual cash value, including depreciation, at the time of loss or damage, up to the total amount of value declared by the customer.

Confused? Don't worry, when you speak with your prospective mover, they will be able to fully explain this to you in more simple terms.

Full Value: This option provides replacement of or reimbursement for the lost or damaged article(s) based on current cost of replacement, up to the total dollar amount of valuation declared by the customer. Full Value is subject to a deductible predetermined by the customer ($0/ $250 and $500). These deductibles work much like those of your automobile insurance policy.

What if the contents inside a box are broken during the move?
By law, if the movers did not provide the packing service, and the box was not dropped while being handled by the movers, and the box showed no visible signs of damaged (severely crushed, smashed or ripped), then the movers are not responsible for the damage. Otherwise, the claim would fall under the insurance coverage selected by the customer (basic coverage, actual cash value, or full value). Please read our information regarding "Packing Your Home" before you leave our web site.

What if the movers damage the premises of the property?
That happens to fall under a different category of insurance coverage, which is called General Liability. Golden Bay Relocation has general liability coverage up to $1,000,000.

Does Golden Bay Relocation provide a Certificate of Insurance?
For a fee, we do provide a certificate of insurance, normally to the building management or landlord. We request the certificate from our insurance agent, and the certificate is normally provided within 3 to 4 business days of our request.

Finally, for all residential moves, please verify with your homeowner's or renter's insurance provider if your policy provides for loss or damage of articles during the transition.
